Não tenho grande conhecimento sobre esta língua (sim, língua!), mas dedico esta postagem ao compartilhamento das informações que obtive através de colegas intérpretes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As Línguas de Sinais (LS) são as línguas naturais das comunidades surdas. Ao contrário do que muitos imaginam, as Línguas de Sinais não são simplesmente mímicas e gestos soltos, utilizados pelos surdos para facilitar a comunicação. São línguas com estruturas gramaticais próprias. Assim, uma pessoa que entra em contato com uma Língua de Sinais irá aprender uma outra língua, como o inglês, espanhol etc. Atribui-se às Línguas de Sinais o status de língua porque elas também são compostas pelos níveis linguísticos fonológico, morfológico, sintático e semântico. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O que é denominado de palavra ou item lexical nas línguas oral-auditivas são denominados sinais na LIBRAS. O que diferencia as Línguas de Sinais das demais línguas é a sua modalidade visual-espacial. Os seus usuários podem discutir filosofia ou política e até mesmo produzir poemas e peças teatrais.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As Línguas de Sinais não são universais. Cada país possui a sua própria língua de sinais, que sofre as influências da cultura nacional. Como qualquer outra língua, ela também possui expressões que diferem de região para região (os regionalismos) e "sotaque", o que a legitima ainda mais como língua.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Os sinais são formados a partir da combinação da forma e do movimento das mãos e do ponto no corpo ou no espaço onde esses sinais são feitos. É assim que é formada a estrutura, ou seja, a "gramática" da língua de sinais na qual podem ser encontrados os seguintes parâmetros: &lt;br /&gt;(1) Configuração das mãos: São formas das mãos que podem ser da datilologia (alfabeto manual) ou outras formas feitas pela mão predominante (mão direita para os destros ou esquerda para os canhotos), ou pelas duas mãos. &lt;br /&gt;(2) Ponto de articulação: é o lugar onde incide a mão predominante configurada, ou seja, local onde é feito o sinal, podendo tocar alguma parte do corpo ou estar em um espaço neutro. &lt;br /&gt;(3) Movimento: Os sinais podem ter um movimento ou não. &lt;br /&gt;(4) Expressão facial e/ou corporal: As expressões faciais / corporais são de fundamental importância para o entendimento real do sinal, sendo que a entonação em Língua de Sinais é feita pela expressão facial. (5) Orientação/Direção: Os sinais têm uma direção com relação aos parâmetros acima. Assim, os verbos IR e VIR se opõem em relação à direcionalidade.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Há algumas convenções a serem seguidas na LIBRAS, tais como:&lt;br /&gt;(1) A grafia: os sinais em LIBRAS, para simplificação, serão representados na Língua Portuguesa em letra maiúscula. &lt;br /&gt;(2) A datilologia (alfabeto manual): usada para expressar nomes de pessoas, lugares e outras palavras que não possuem sinal, estará representada pelas palavras separadas por hífen. &lt;br /&gt;(3) Os verbos: serão apresentados no infinitivo. Todas as concordâncias e conjugações são feitas no espaço. &lt;br /&gt;(4) As frases: obedecerão à estrutura da LIBRAS, e não à do Português. Ex.: VOCÊ GOSTAR CURSO? (Você gosta do curso?). &lt;br /&gt;(5) Os pronomes pessoais: serão representados pelo sistema de apontação. Apontar em LIBRAS é culturalmente e gramaticalmente aceito.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ao conhecermos uma pessoa, indicamos a ela o nosso sinal (criado por nós mesmos) que passará o nosso "apelido". O presente trabalho faz uma análise, por meio de elementos linguísticos, da tradução da obra epistolar The Color Purple (1985), de Alice Walker, a fim de verificar como são resgatadas as variedades linguísticas, enquanto caracterizadoras da obra, e também para averiguar a linguagem utilizada pela narradora no começo e no fim do livro. Após serem apresentados fundamentos teóricos e discussões relacionadas a estudos literários, linguísticos e de tradução, será feita uma análise de algumas cartas traduzidas que serão escolhidas devido a sua peculiaridade linguística, visto que o livro, em sua maior parte, é escrito por uma negra semi-alfabetizada do sul dos Estados Unidos no início do século XX. In addition to being a novelist, Burgess was also a linguist and he used this background to depict his characters as speaking a form of Russian-influenced English. The name itself comes from the Russian suffix equivalent of -'teen' (-надцать).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Saragi, Nation &amp;amp; Meister (1978) performed a study of vocabulary learning using Nadsat and A Clockwork Orange. They reported that subjects given a few days to read the book and no warning of a test scored an average of 67%, with the lowest score of 50% and highest of 96%.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nadsat is a mode of speech used by the nadsat, members of the teen subculture in the novel A Clockwork Orange. The anti-hero and narrator of the book, Alex, uses it in first-person style to relate the story to the reader. He also uses it to communicate with other characters in the novel, such as his droogs, parents, victims, and any authority-figures with whom he comes in contact. As with many speakers of non-standard varieties of English, Alex is capable of speaking standard English when he wants to. It is not a written language: the sense that readers get is of a transcription of vernacular speech. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nadsat is basically English with some borrowed words from Russian. It also contains influences from Cockney rhyming slang and the King James Bible, the German language, some words of unclear origin, and some that Burgess invented. The word nadsat itself is the suffix of Russian numerals from 11 to 19 (-надцать). The suffix is an almost exact linguistic parallel to the English '-teen,' and is derived from 'на,' meaning 'on' and a shortened form of 'десять,' the number ten. 'Droog' is Russian друг 'close friend'.[2] Some of the words are also almost childish English such as eggiweg ('egg') and appy polly loggy ('apology'), as well as regular English slang sod and snuff it. The word like and the expression the old are often inserted arbitrarily into phrases.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At least one translation of Burgess' book into Russian solved the problem of how to illustrate the Nadsat words—by using transliterated, slang English words in places where Burgess used Russian ones. However, this solution was imperfect as it lacked the original abstractness. Borrowed English words with Russian inflection were widely used in Russian slang, especially among Russian hippies. Tratando-se da interferência fonológica, seria esse contato que criaria confusões entre certas palavras (como a diferenciação de sheep e ship nos ouvidos brasileiros) e diferentes sotaques. No campo lexical, bons exemplos de interferência seriam os falsos cognatos (por exemplo, for instance), as traduções literais (estar direito, to be right) ou criações numa língua calcadas no modelo de outra. A interferência lexical pode produzir o empréstimo principalmente por não conseguirmos encontrar equivalentes em nosso próprio idioma. Ao contrário da interferência, que é individual, o empréstimo é um fato coletivo. Todas as línguas recebem empréstimos de outras, mas quando essa situação é exacerbada, acaba gerando aversão às palavras estrangeiras (como foi o caso dos franceses que desenvolveram uma luta contra os empréstimos).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O plurilingüismo também incentiva o problema que uma pessoa tem quando viaja ou muda-se a trabalho para um país do qual não fala a língua e não é compreendido pela sua língua-mãe. Nesse caso, o indivíduo tem que se comunicar por meio de uma língua veicular, uma terceira língua que tanto ele quanto a comunidade na qual está inserido conheçam (e.g.: um brasileiro que se muda para a Holanda e usa o Inglês como sua língua veicular). Se não há uma terceira língua em comum e há a necessidade de comunicação, eles inventam uma língua mista (como a língua franca utilizada no séc. XIX nos portos do mar Mediterrâneo). Essas formas, quando muito simples e apenas com o objetivo de comunicações comerciais, são conhecidas como sabirs, que quando mais amplas e desenvolvidas passam a ser chamadas de pidgins.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Há também outra situação, quando o indivíduo conhece dois idiomas e os mistura em seu enunciado, tornando-os “bilíngües”. Vontade de postar, mas preguiça de estudar (só hoje, pelo menos!). Decidi fazer uma breve homenagem à autora de um dos meus poemas favoritos, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, poetisa inglesa da era vitoriana que viveu de 1806 a 1861. Filha de Mary Graham-Clarke e Edward Moulton Barrett, Elizabeth tinha outros onze irmãos e tinha descendência crioula, mais especificamente, Jamaicana. Ela recebeu educação escolar em sua casa, tendo como tutores primeiro o tutor de seu irmão e depois uma jovem senhora, porém no começo de sua adolescência, Mrs. Browning contraiu uma possível tuberculose e foi tida como inválida por sua família. Escreveu seu primeiro poema aos 6 anos e, aos 14, escreveu um longo poema titulado "The Battle of Marathon". Em 1826, escreveu uma coleção de poemas com o nome "An Essay on Mind and other poems"; além de fazer traduções do grego para o Inglês. Após criar várias obras, em 1845, Elizabeth conheceu seu marido, Robert Browning, por quem se apaixonou profundamente e com quem casou em segredo e teve um filho. A família mudou-se para Florença, aonde viveram até a morte de Elizabeth em 1961. Elizabeth foi a poeta (mulher) mais renomada no século XIX, tanto na Inglaterra quanto nos Estados Unidos.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Enfim, deixo aqui o lindo poema que ela dedicou a seu esposo em nome de seu grande amor. Agora é importante saber que a Sociolingüística tem três áreas principais de estudo: a primeira associa fatores sociais à linguagem, assim como a decadência e a assimilação de línguas minoritárias, o bilingüismo e o planejamento lingüístico em nações emergentes - abordagem feita em "Sociologia da Linguagem"; a segunda trata de descrever e analisar os eventos de fala, levando em consideração a teoria da comunicação de William Bright (o falante, a relação dele com o interlocutor e o contexto envolvido), a qual diz respeito à Sociolingüística Interacional; e a terceira, foco de nossos estudos nesse semestre - a chamada Sociolingüística Variacional - é enfocada principalmente por Labov.&lt;br /&gt;Para a Sociolingüística Variacional, a relação entre sociedade e língua, ou seja, o exame da linguagem no contexto social, é indispensável, pois a linguagem é vista como um fenômeno social. Seguindo essa abordagem, vemos que duas pessoas falantes da mesma língua ou variedade dialetal não se expressam do mesmo modo, e ainda podemos ir mais além: um único falante raramente se expressa da mesma forma em duas diferentes situações de comunicação. &lt;strong&gt;Por que chegamos à essa conclusão? Porque cada indivíduo faz parte de uma natureza "fisiotropicasocial" e, ao desenvolver suas habilidades lingüísticas, este indivíduo consegue adequar sua produção ao contexto apresentado.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Para que isso seja mais fácil de ser compreendido, vejamos primeiro o que são variantes&lt;br /&gt;e variáveis. Variáveis são alternâncias entre duas formas pré-existentes, em nível fonético-fonológico, morfo-sintático ou semântico-lexical. Por exemplo, as diversas pronúncias do fonema /r/ em diversas partes do país. Por exemplo, temos o R retroflexo - conhecido pejorativamente como o R caipira de "poRRRta"; o R [h] fricativa glotal - o famoso R carioca que também pode ser encontrado no litoral brasileiro em geral; e, finalmente, o [r] vibrante alveolar, usado na região metropolitana de São Paulo. As variáveis podem ter tanto naturezas lingüísticas quanto naturezas extralingüísticas, e o grupo dessas variáveis é que forma uma variante. Essa variante pode ser que, com o passar do tempo, se torne uma mudança ou não, mas todas as mudanças são fruto de uma variante existente por um longo período de tempo. É importante notar também que as variantes não possuem função informativa, ou seja, não alteram o valor semântico da sentença.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Quando falo em natureza "fisiotropicasocial", levo em consideração os tipos de variantes existentes: as diatrópicas (ou geográficas), as diastráticas (ou sócio-culturais) e as estilísticas (e/ou de registro). As variantes sociais dividem-se ainda em duas outras categorias: as socioeconômicas (nível de renda familiar, grau de escolaridade, etc.) e&lt;br /&gt;as sociobiológicas (idade, sexo, ocupação profissional, etc.). Encontramos também as linguagens especiais, que são formadas pelos jargãos, gírias e neologismos.&lt;br /&gt;Um mesmo indivíduo pode e deve alternar entre diferentes formas lingüísticas de acordo com a variação das circunstâncias que cercam a interação verbal, ou seja, quanto menos coloquiais as circunstâncias, maior a preocupação formal. Esse é o segredo para um bom desenvolvimento sociolingüístico: adequar o seu discurso de acordo com as necessidades do meio; e é o que deveria ser ensinado e/ou reforçado no ensino escolar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O objetivo principal da Sociolingüística é provar que as variações apresentam uma regularidade, ou seja, as variações são sistemáticas! Elas não são "criadas" aleatoriamente e não fazem parte de um agrupado caótico, mas sim uma "variação sistemática da linguagem normativa". A Sociolingüística Variacional concebe a língua como um sistema heterogêneo cuja variação estrutural está relacionada às alterações dos padrões culturais e ideológicos da comunidade de fala, ou seja, as variações deveriam ter o mesmo valor da língua normativa. Infelizmente, porém, não é isso que vemos até hoje, em pleno século XXI. A língua ainda é tida como recurso de exclusão das camadas marginalizadas e, ao invés de diminuir as exclusões sociais, serve para reforçá-la, separando a sociedade em extratos prestigiados e estigmatizados.&lt;br /&gt;- Texto reflexivo baseado no primeiro tópico do capítulo entitulado "Sociolingüística - parte II" escrito por Roberto G. Por se tratar do histórico desse ramo da Lingüística, o autor inicia o capítulo citando &lt;em&gt;Antoine Meillet (1866-1936),&lt;/em&gt; lingüista francês que foi aluno de Saussure no Curso de Lingüística Geral, como precursor da Sociolingüística. Embora tenha recebido os conhecimentos do grande mestre, Meillet se opôs a eles, de forma que usou a mesma fórmula, porém com uma perspectiva completamente diferente. Enquanto &lt;em&gt;Saussure&lt;/em&gt; deixa de lado a parte social da língua, o francês, ao lado de &lt;em&gt;Émile Durkheim&lt;/em&gt;, diz que a língua é ao mesmo tempo um fato social e um sistema que tudo contém; associa a abordagem externa com a interna e busca explicar a estrutura pela história. Nessa mesma época, surgia a abordagem social da corrente marxista exposta por &lt;em&gt;Paul Lafargue&lt;/em&gt;, que publicou um estudo sobre o vocabulário Francês antes e depois da Revolução, mostrando as mudanças da língua correlatas aos fatos políticos. Posteriormente, na URSS, surge &lt;em&gt;Nicolai Marr&lt;/em&gt;, que postulava uma origem comum para todas as línguas e acreditava que o socialismo deveria provocar o surgimento de uma única língua - o esperanto. (Escreverei uma postagem sobre ele para explicar melhor as suas idéias). Após o 15º aniversário de morte de Marr (mais precisamente em Maio de 1950), Stálin e seu poder político põem fim à "nova teoria lingüística" de Nicolai, concluindo que a língua não é uma superestrutura e não tem caráter de classe. Entre os jovens que faziam parte do grupo contra as teorias de Marr, encontra-se &lt;em&gt;Mikhail Bakhtin&lt;/em&gt;, de maior destaque até os dias de hoje, acompanhado de &lt;em&gt;Volochinov&lt;/em&gt; (cuja existência e produção acadêmica são duvidosas), &lt;em&gt;Medvedev&lt;/em&gt; e &lt;em&gt;Jackobson&lt;/em&gt;. Na sociolingüística moderna, &lt;em&gt;Basil Bernstein&lt;/em&gt; é o pioneiro do ciclo que os lingüistas ingleses dominariam mais tarde. Bernstein é o primeiro a considerar as produções lingüísticas reais, a situação sociológica dos falantes e constatou, em partes, que as crianças da classe operária têm um desenvolvimento escolar inferior em relação às crianças abastadas, analisando &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pcjtZKipwx0/SMXhVD9BK4I/AAAAAAAAANc/TG0eRzw5rg0/s1600-h/socio2.jpg"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="color:#ffffff;"&gt;suas produções lingüísticas e definindo dois códigos: o restrito e o elaborado. Em maio de 1964, &lt;em&gt;William Bright&lt;/em&gt; reúne 25 pesquisadores por 3 dias em uma conferência sobre a sociolingüística em Los angeles e faz desse encontro o marco da sociolingüística como a conhecemos hoje em dia. Entre os palestrantes, estavam grandes nomes como &lt;em&gt;Labov, Ferguson, Hymes e Kelley&lt;/em&gt;. Na publicação dos trabalhos apresentados, Bright define três fatores que condicionam a diversidade lingüística: a identidade social do falante, a do destinatário e o contexto envolvido. Mesmo trazendo grande avanço à sociolingüística, William ainda não consegue dar independência à sociolingüística; o que só acontece com &lt;em&gt;William Labov&lt;/em&gt;, criador da corrente chamada "lingüística variacionista" a partir de suas análises do BEV (Black English Vernacular). Há certos gramáticos que querem fazer a língua parar num certo ponto, e acham que é erro dizermos de modo diferente do que diziam os clássicos.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt; - Quem vem a ser os clássicos? - perguntou a menina (Narizinho).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt; - Os entendidos chamam &lt;em&gt;clássicos&lt;/em&gt; aos escritores amigos, como o padre Antônio Vieira, Frei Luís de Sousa, o padre Manuel Bernardes e outros. Para os carranças, quem não escreve como eles está errado. Mas isso é curteza de vistas. Esses homens foram bons escritores &lt;em&gt;no seu tempo&lt;/em&gt;.
